We believe the creative arts are fundamental to a fulfilling and emotionally rewarding education. The documented benefits of the arts are wide ranging, from direct cognitive improvements to a child’s learning, an improved sense of health and wellbeing, as well as encouraging the talent supply-line for our world-class creative industries.  Yet despite the empirical and intuitive evidence, the creative arts are in serious decline within our comprehensive schools.

We believe that our education system should overtly cherish the arts. Our cultural events are dominated by a very narrow portion of society. This becomes even narrower when we look at the leadership of our great cultural institutions. We believe there should be equality of access to culture. There is one universal access system which cross-cuts most of the social and cultural divides which prevent our children from attending concerts, museums and galleries later in life – our comprehensive schools. We intend to grow cultural capital from the ground-up through the funding of projects that allow schools to shout that they are wondrous, inspiring and creative places in which to grow up and be a child.
