
Robert Gifford
Robert was the founder and first Chief Executive of the Road Safety Trust; a grant-making charity which supports research and practical interventions to reduce death and injury on the roads in the UK. In its first two years, this trust funded 13 projects to the tune of £2.5m. Robert helped establish the Trust and develop its grant-making criteria. Robert spent 16 years as Executive Director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety. Starting his early career as a secondary school English Teacher, he later worked as a Policy Officer for the National Union of Teachers. A cultural activist, Robert is Trustee of the MK Arts and Heritage Alliance, Co-curator of Stony Words (the annual literary festival in Stony Stratford), Chair of Stony Stratford Theatre Society, and occasional dramatist.
